San Francisco & Mill Valley Elopement

A lot of people have asked me how the 2020 pandemic has affected wedding photography. Some couples have chosen to postpone thier wedding, some have downsized and had their ceremony in a family member’s backyard or some have decided to elope. Elopements are one of my favorite things to shoot. It’s so intimate, no rush because you’re not on a venue’s watch, and you get all the photos you’ve ever dreamed of getting. I’ve done all I can to work with couples to let them know I am on board for whichever way they’ve chosen to rework their wedding day plans. Martin and Lisa had originally planned for a small, intimate family included Yosemite wedding for mid-October. Due to the current climate in our country, they decided to forgo the wedding yet chose to elope instead in their current hometown, San Francisco. Lisa asked me if I’d be willing to fly up north to still capture their San Francisco/Mill Valley elopement. I said, “Absolutely!” I hopped on a plane and we spent a Saturday in October running around from spot to spot taking their elopement photos.

From a sunrise Hawk Hill vow ceremony (with a very few close friends) to capturing their cake cutting at one of the coolest AirBnb’s I have ever seen (search AirBNb in Mill Valley, so many options!) to ending at sunset at Sutro Baths and Crissy Fields beach, Martin and Lisa’s day turned out so lovely. The quiet, Redwood shaded road leading up to this house was so peaceful, the morning and its Golden Gate view, seeing the rising sun and the moon in the same sky, was a blessing not lost on me knowing there is so much going on in our world right now. Each day is truly a gift.
