WEEK 42 | GOD'S INSURMOUNTABLE POWER

Here I sit, behind my laptop, little ol’ me feeling the prompting to write what God has been highlighting to me this week and last. And it’s His Power. I traveled to Yosemite last week to photograph a wedding and Yosemite is one of those places you feel the weight of God’s glory. Some may wonder why they feel what they do in such a place or begin to call into question the meaning of life. How the earth was formed, why we’re here and who created it all. What a humbling place to be and how small I feel in comparison to Half Dome and El Capitan towering above me. Yet also, how incredibly grateful to know the God who made these mountains and valleys created me with a purpose and has a plan for my life. The power felt in this place and to think, God is more powerful than those mountains. The mountains are His footstool (Isaiah 66:1-2). As I woke up that morning I sat and journaled in the lodge that we were staying at and I opened up the drawer looking for a pen and saw the Bible. That says something. How powerful God’s Word is, this book that is in most every hotel room across the country. Why? Because it is the living, breathing Word of God and it holds power. I prayed in my heart for anyone who enters those doors facing something seemingly impossible would open up that Bible and find the power that lies within.
And then reflecting on why I was there in the first place, a wedding. And thinking about the purpose of marriage. Marriage has a greater purpose than just two individuals taking the next step in a relationship. God has given the gift of marriage until death to bring about His Kingdom to earth. In a day where people are living according to “their truth”, I feel it on my heart to point to absolute, irrefutable truth found in the living Word of God and to declare the power it holds. The power it has to change lives and bring individuals together for a greater purpose. There may be sentiment in the well wishes of people congratulating you or wishing you a lifetime of happiness, but is there power in those words? What does a few well wishes do? Lift us for the moment perhaps but to bring God, the Maker of mountains and ask His blessing over this union of man and woman, is powerful. His name, “I AM”, holds great power.

His Word which holds the answer to all of life’s most difficult questions, changing hearts and lives daily. The power which rose Jesus from the grave, is also still bringing dead men to life and holding together marriages for His glory. And here I am, raised to new life in Christ, I stand as a monument to His redeeming power and love and my fingers can’t help but type some of what’s in my heart.
