Rainy Day Engagement Session | Dana Point, CA

It’s been a wet winter here in Southern California and with summer weddings, engagement sessions are being scheduled in the early winter or spring months (aka rainy season). Rescheduling isn’t always an option. Bridgette and Mike live up north and were down in the beach area to do some food and cake tasting, so we decided to fit in their engagement photos as well!

It was pouring rain down in my area and was pouring rain the entire way on the drive, but I was praying and believing that there would be a break in the storm. And there was! We decided to uncomplicate things and meet at the venue where they will be getting married (a chance to scope it out as well) and just roll with it. It was a bit misty but no rain, and the hotel where Bridgette and Mike will be getting married had some gorgeous viewpoints. It was so laid back and so much fun, I encourage any photogs or couples out there who might be on the fence about shooting in the rain, to just go with it, bring a fun umbrella if it starts to rain hard, hope for a break in the storm and make your session as less fuss as possible! The results can still be the same!

Engagement sessions can be exactly what you need them to be — this time it was a relaxed, short and sweet session. Don’t feel like it has to be some grand adventure with a crazy landscape. You can make your own, your own way and still get photos true to you as a couple!
